Brentwood Avenue, Jesmond
The stonework to the left hand side was to be retained.
In order to retain the stonework, minor repair works were carried out using restoration mortar and cleaning using sodium bicarbonate powder.
The remaining areas were taken down as the stone was beyond repair.
Accurate templates were taken of the radius which enabled the stone to be masoned.
Blaxter stone was chosen as the preferred stone type as it exactly matched the retained pillars to the left hand side.
Once the stonework was fixed, the new shop fronts were installed.
This row of shop fronts in Newcastle’s bohemian quarter was traditionally restored and returned back to its original Edwardian style.
