Weetwood Bridge

Weetwood Bridge, Northumberland

This 16th Century medieval bridge, spanning the river Till in Northumberland, was suffering from spread at the crown of the arch and parapet walls. The structure was inhabited by a colony of Daubenton’s Bats which are protected nationally by the Wildlife and Countryside Act. Working with English Heritage and with the guidance of English Nature, St Astier were able to undertake the structural repairs including the installation of Cintec Anchors and pumped grout without dispersing the bat colony.
