St Astier In The Press

An ITV News crew gets the low-down on some of the craftmanship at the Castle Keep from the project's principal stonemason

It’s been a good week for us with the press. When the Journal and Evening Chronicle expressed an interest in the most recent phase of work at the Castle Keep, we decided to despatch our best dressed man to the site to give an interview and pose for a round of photos. Despite some protests, Ranson was immediately ruled out of the frame due to a number of recent style offences (please ask him about his cut-off tie) and a ‘dinner medal’ earned earlier that same day. So, Jim made his way to site – which is just as well as he has managed the current phase of works from our end since its inception.

We’re very proud that the third phase of stone conservation and restoration works was subsequently featuted in the Journal where it was given a full page, and also in the Evening Chronicle.

The conservation and restoration of the Castle Keep is such an important issue for the city of Newcastle that ITV Local news ran the story yesterday evening too.

Article update: the Castle Keep project was featured on BBC Radio Newcastle on Monday 1 September. You can listen to the interview with Jim here.
