A local youth’s football team faced disaster recently as they struggled to find the means to pay fees to keep their place at the club’s official home at Seaham Redstar football ground.
The Under 18’s had missed out on vital funding earlier in the year and were facing a move to a nearby playing field which lacked the on-site facilities enjoyed by the senior team who play their football in the Northern League.
As two of our trainees play for the under 18’s and one of our foreman spent several years as a permanent fixture of the senior 11, we decided to intervene. After consultation with Seaham Town Council, St Astier offered to undertake concrete repairs to over 100 posts which form part of the crowd control barriers at the club. As well as undertaking repairs to the failed concrete posts, we also installed a new non-slip floor in the home dressing room. In return for our efforts an agreement was reached to allow the under 18’s to continue on at the Seaham Redstar ground.
