Cleaning of Copper Finial

In progress photo showing Rotec Cleaning of Copper Finial

St Astier has recently removed the copper finial from Spanish City’s famous dome to allow careful cleaning works to be undertaken. This follows on from a preliminary survey of the building, which saw the Remmers Rotec Whirl Jet technique put forward as an appropriate and effective method of removing the layers of paint from the copper finial.

The system is a consistent further development of the so-called ‘mist jetting and soft jetting technique’. As the tangential movement created by the Rotec Whirl Jet allows the abrasive medium to slide over the surface of the substrate, soiling can be removed gradually with the degree and intensity of cleaning exactly controlled.
