The preceding six months has seen St Astier completing varying concrete repair & protection projects to five bridges spanning the A69 – a major route linking the North East of England with the North West of the country. The A69, which was originally developed in the mid 18th century to address the Jacobite uprising, spans three counties starting from Denton Burn in Newcastle upon Tyne (Tyne & Wear), passing through Northumberland and then to Cumbria where it ends close to the outer edges of Carlisle.
Of the five concrete repair schemes so far, four have been carried out at night with the benefit of lane closures and the most recent works have been undertaken during daylight hours at Constantius Bridge where the A69 crosses the Tyne.
